101: Introduction to Sandtrays in Play Therapy |

(Beginner): This workshop starts with basic introduction to sandtrays and setting up sandtray use in play therapy. We then advance to a variety of techniques, theories and methods. Participants will create their own sand trays during the training to experience the impact and healing power of this technique. Limited to 15 participants. Price includes Intro textbook by Linda Homeyer and starter sandtray. Student price registration will need to purchase book separate from registration fee.

201: Intermediate Sandtrays in Play Therapy |

Prerequisite: ST 101-Introduction to Sandtrays in PT
We overview the effects of developmental issues on the sandtray process and outcome including cognitive, emotional, social, etc issues. We also review outcomes of the MMPI as correlated to the sandtray outcome process. We discuss and practice sandtray work with family, groups, couples, etc. No text.

| ST 301: Advanced Case Studies in Sandtrays with PT |
|

Prerequisites: ST 101 & ST 201
This class will consist of review of case studies of using Sandtrays in Play therapy through the presentation of case study pictures, videos, demonstrations. Attendees are to bring at least one client case involving sandtray (including pictures and/or diagrams of trays or video) to discuss, evaluate and provide feedback. Advanced issues in sandtray use in families, couples and groups will also be discussed as time allows. Some hands on experiential will be done as time permits. No text.

| TH 210: Theraplay for School Counselors & Early Childhood Leaders |
|

Introductory Theraplay class specifically geared for those who work in educational settings. Come learn basic theory/practice of Theraplay, the most effective play therapy model we have found for treating families, attachment issues, ADHD issues and many other behavioral/mental health issues in children. This play therapy model is easy to learn & implement, short term and highly structured. It can be done in schools, homes, early childhood classrooms, agencies....anywhere. It requires minimal play therapy supplies and uses a positive, strength based model for working with parents and children. We will learn basic foundations of Theraplay & attachment theory; assessment method of the Marschak Interaction Method, how to plan a Theraplay session and the hands on learning of Theraplay activities. We will use case studies and video clips to demonstrate Theraplay methodology as well. Come learn, come have fun!! Dress casually and comfortably...(slacks/jeans recommended) All supplies provided.

| PT 101: Play Therapy for Assessment |

Play therapy can be an extremely effective tool for the assessment phase of treatment, especially when working with children, families or various personalities that resist standard assessment paper/pencil interview methods. Using free play, art assessment, game assessment, Marschak Assessment Method and others (including unique assessment forms compiled or written by the instructor) you can more quickly and effectively assess the needs of clients.

| PT 300: Practical Play Therapy (formerly Sensory Integrative Play Therapy) |

Prerequisite: PT 100 Fundamentals of Play Therapy
This workshop will be mostly experiential. We will discuss theory of sensory based work with children incorporated with developmental theory. We will also discuss practical techniques to use with children and adolescents that have been used successfully with all children, but especially with abused or minority populations. This will be a "hands on" workshop and some activities are messy, so dress in comfortable but appropriate clothing.

| PT 400: Groups, Groups, Groups with Play Therapy |

This workshop will provide curriculums for at least play therapy groups that attendees can take and reproduce. Formats and ideas for lay therapy groups will be presented as well as basic guidelines to follow when forming & facilitating play therapy groups. There will be some hands on activities so that participants can gain a better understanding of the play therapy process in group situations. We will also review Theraplay group formats. Lots of fun.

| PT 601: Play Therapy with Attachment Issues |
|

Attachment disorders and detached children are the fastest growing population of children referred for therapy. More and more children have no attachments in their lives and few, if any, skills for forming these attachments. We will discuss basic tenants of attachment theory, models for attachment building in children and through some experiential methods, learn some attachment techniques in play therapy. Instructor will share real life examples & techniques from an adoption case to teach.
