Description: This course will focus on the foundational issues in treating abuse and trauma in children and families utilizing play therapy. Current brain development research will be discussed and its impact on trauma treatment evaluated. This course will take an in depth look at treating abuse, especially sexual abuse, and trauma with play therapy. Sensory issues and brain trauma research will be synthesized into the theory and practice. Cultural issues in treating abuse/trauma with play therapy will also be explored.

Workshop: Theories of Play Therapy
Description:This course is designed to provide the student with a practical introduction to theories that have contributed to the development of play therapy. This class will focus in depth on several theories that have influenced and interact with play therapy including client-centered, Adlerian, Jungian, Filial, Developmental and others. Emphasis will be focused on attendees developing their counseling theory synthesized with play therapy practice. Play Therapy techniques, video sessions will be utilized.
