Description: This course is designed to provide the student with a practical introduction to theories that have contributed to the development of play therapy. This class will focus in depth on several theories that have influenced and interact with play therapy including client-centered, Adlerian, Jungian, Filial, Developmental and others. Emphasis will be focused on attendees developing their counseling theory synthesized with play therapy practice. Play Therapy techniques, video sessions will be utilized.

Family Play Therapy

Workshop: Family Play Therapy
Description: This course will focus on the foundations of filial therapy, CPRT and directive family play therapy models. Students will learn methods for teaching parents to interact positively with children as well as parent education methods and intervention strategies. Cultural issues affecting family play therapy will be discussed. Case studies and experiential learning will be utilized.

Specialized Applications in Play Therapy: Adolescents & Groups
Date: March 7-8, 2014
Workshop: This class will take a look at two special types of play therapy populations: adolescents and groups. One day will be spent on each discussing special considerations for working with each population as well as learning a variety of play therapy techniques for use with both adolescents and different types of groups.

Description: This course is designed to provide the student with practical introduction to special areas of treatment with play therapy including: working with parents, Neurosequential theory (Perry) with play therapy overview, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy(Dan Hughes) with play therapy, filial models overview and attachment treatment play therapy theory with overview of various attachment treatment approaches which utilize play therapy principles, history and development.
